About Bale Mountains
Bale Mountains National Park is one of Africa's most important ecological strongholds. Its Sanetti Plateau sits above 4,000 meters and hosts the largest population of the endangered Ethiopian wolf, the rarest canid on Earth. The landscape looks almost extraterrestrial with giant lobelia plants rising from the Afro-alpine moorland. Descending the mountains brings travelers into the Harenna Forest, one of Ethiopia's largest cloud forests. It shelters endemic wildlife, rare birds, and wild coffee populations that grow naturally under the forest canopy. Bale is not simply a scenic mountain destination. It is a biological treasure where ecology, altitude, and evolution collide.
